Subdivisions¶
Managing Specialized Units¶
Subdivisions are specialized units within departments (e.g., SWAT, K9, Traffic). This guide covers creating and managing subdivisions.
Requires Standard or higher
Subdivisions are available on Standard and Professional plans (unlimited per department). Free-tier communities see a locked page and cannot create subdivisions.
Creating a Subdivision¶
- Open the department and click the Subdivisions tab in the department navigation bar
- Click Add Subdivision
- Enter details:
| Field | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Unit name | K-9 Unit |
| Abbreviation | Short code | K9 |
| Description | Unit purpose | Canine handlers and tracking |
| Logo | Unit badge/logo | Upload image |
| Max Members | Cap on unit size (optional) | 10 |
| Discord Role | For auto-sync (optional) | @K9-Unit |
- Click Create
Assigning Members to Subdivisions¶
- Go to a member's profile
- Find their department assignment
- Click Manage Subdivisions
- Check the subdivisions they belong to
- Click Save
Multiple Subdivisions¶
Members can belong to multiple subdivisions within the same department. For example, an officer could be in both SWAT and FTO.
Subdivision Requirements¶
You can require certifications for subdivision membership.
Setting Up Requirements¶
- Edit the subdivision
- Under Required Certifications, select the needed certs
- Save changes
Enforcement¶
- Members without required certifications cannot be assigned
- If a certification expires, a warning is displayed
- Staff can override requirements if needed
Subdivision Capacity¶
Setting Max Members¶
Limit how many members can join a subdivision:
- Edit the subdivision
- Set Max Members value
- Save changes
Capacity Display¶
- Current member count shown
- Warning when near capacity
- Prevents assignments when full
Subdivision Rosters¶
A subdivision can have its own roster mode, independent of its parent department:
- Inherit (default) — use the parent department's roster mode
- Member-based, Slot-based, or Hybrid — set the subdivision's own mode
When a subdivision uses slots (either set directly, or inherited from a slot-based parent), a Manage Slots button appears on the subdivision roster so you can build out its positions just like a department.
Discord Role Sync¶
Link subdivisions to Discord roles for automatic sync.
Setting Up¶
- Edit the subdivision
- Select the Discord role
- Save changes
Sync Behavior¶
- Role added when member joins subdivision
- Role removed when member leaves subdivision
- Works with multi-subdivision membership
Managing Subdivisions¶
Viewing Subdivision Roster¶
- Go to Department > Subdivisions
- Click on a subdivision to see members
- View member list with rank and status
Editing Subdivisions¶
- Click the edit icon on any subdivision
- Modify settings
- Save changes

Important
Deleting a subdivision removes all member assignments to that unit.
