My account¶
My Account is where you manage your own profile, decide which emails PulseLMS sends you, and get to your password and security settings.
Open it from My Account in the sidebar under System, or by clicking your photo and name at the top of the sidebar. Everyone has it; you don't need any particular role.
Your details¶
Profile photo¶
Click Upload photo to choose an image. It appears next to your name in the sidebar and anywhere else the app shows you.
- Accepted formats: PNG, JPG, WEBP or GIF, up to 2MB.
- Click Change photo to replace it, or Remove to go back to your initials.
Your photo updates everywhere from your next page load.
Display name¶
Your name normally comes from your PulseTech single sign-on account. Type a different one here if you'd rather be known by something else in PulseLMS: a preferred name, or the name your colleagues actually call you.
- Once you set a name here, it stays; signing in again won't overwrite it.
- To go back to your single sign-on name, clear the box and save.
Email¶
Your email address is shown but can't be edited here; it's the address you sign in with, and it belongs to your single sign-on account. See Password and security below.
Email notifications¶
These settings control email only. Everything still arrives in the app under the bell, so muting a category never costs you the record of what happened.
Send me email notifications is the master switch. Turn it off and PulseLMS sends you no notification email at all, whatever the individual categories say. (This is the same setting as Email me about new activity in the bell menu.)
Below it, choose the categories you want emailed:
| Category | Covers |
|---|---|
| Assignments | A course or program is assigned to you. |
| Due dates and reminders | Work is due soon or overdue, or a manager nudges you. |
| Grades and progress | A quiz is graded, or your progress on a course is reset. |
| Certificates | A certificate is issued, is expiring, or needs recertifying. |
| Course activity | You finish a course or program, or one you're on is updated. |
| Discussions | Someone replies to you in a course discussion. |
Click Save preferences when you're done.
No email while you're active
Even with everything switched on, you won't be emailed about something you've just seen in the app. If you're actively using PulseLMS, notifications stay in the bell rather than filling your inbox.
For the full list of which notification types fall in which category, see Notifications & events.
Privacy¶
Show me on leaderboards controls whether other members see your name in leaderboard standings. Turn it off to stay hidden; you still earn points and badges exactly as before, you just don't appear in the list.
This setting only appears meaningful where your organization has gamification switched on.
Discord¶
If your organization uses Discord, a Discord block at the bottom of Your details lets you connect your Discord account to your learning account. The roles you hold in your community server can then enrol you in courses automatically.
To link:
- Click Link with Discord.
- Discord asks you to approve the connection. Approve it.
- You come back here and the card shows the account you connected.
Only you can link your own account
You approve the connection at Discord itself, so nobody can connect an account that isn't theirs. PulseLMS only ever learns who Discord says you are, and it never sees your Discord password, your messages, or your servers.
Click Unlink to disconnect. Your Discord roles then stop granting course access, but courses you are already enrolled in stay yours; you keep your progress and any certificate you have earned.
The card also tells you whether role sync is active. If it says sync activates once your admin connects the server, linking has worked and there is nothing more for you to do; the rest is on your organization's admin.
If you don't see anything about Discord on this page, your organization hasn't connected a Discord server; there is nothing for you to do and nothing missing.
Password and security¶
Your password, two-factor authentication, email address and signed-in devices are held by PulseTech SSO, not by PulseLMS. PulseLMS never sees your password.
Click Open account settings to go to the PulseTech SSO account console, where you can:
- Change your password
- Set up or remove two-factor authentication
- Update your name and email address
- See where you're signed in, and sign other devices out
One account across every PulseTech product
The same sign-in works for PulseLMS, PulseCAD, PulseRoster and any other PulseTech product your organization uses. Changing your password there changes it for all of them, not just PulseLMS.
If you've forgotten your password, use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen rather than this page.
