Programs¶
Bundle published courses into an ordered learning path, with optional step-by-step unlocking, then publish and assign it with due dates.
A program is a curated sequence of courses that learners work through as a single path. Use programs for onboarding tracks, certification journeys, or any multi-course curriculum.
Create a program¶
- Open Programs in the Authoring Studio.
- Click New program.
- Fill in the details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Program title | The name learners see (for example, New-hire onboarding path) |
| Description | An optional summary |
| Sequential | When on, learners unlock each course by completing the one before it |
- Click Create program. The program editor opens so you can add courses.
Each program card shows whether it is Step-by-step (sequential) or Flexible, its course count, and how many learners are enrolled.
Add and order courses¶
In the program editor, use the Add course dropdown to pull in courses.
Only published courses can be added
A course must be published before it can go into a program. Draft courses do not appear in the picker. Publish the course first; see Publishing & versions.
Once courses are in the path:
- Reorder them with the ↑ / ↓ arrows; order is the path order.
- Remove a course with the ✕ button.
- The number badge on each row is its position in the sequence.
Sequential vs. flexible¶
The Sequential toggle controls how learners move through the path.
| Mode | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Sequential (Step-by-step) | Courses unlock in order. A learner must complete course 1 before course 2 opens, and so on. |
| Flexible | All courses are open at once; learners take them in any order. |
When to use sequential
Turn on Sequential when later material depends on earlier material: a foundations course before an advanced one, or a policy course before its assessment.
Save and publish¶
Click Save to store the program's title, description, sequential setting, and course order at any time while it is a draft.
When the path is ready, click Publish. A program needs at least one course before it can be published. Publishing lets learners enroll and makes the program assignable. PulseLMS asks you to confirm before publishing.
Assign a program¶
Once a program is published, an Assign button appears. Assigning pushes the whole path to specific learners.
- Click Assign.
- Optionally set a Due date.
- Optionally mark the assignment Mandatory.
- Choose recipients:
- Assign selected: tick individual members.
- Assign to all: assign to every member.
Members appear after first sign-in
The member list only shows people who have signed in to PulseLMS at least once. If someone is missing, have them log in and they will appear.
Assigned learners get the program on their learning page; due dates and mandatory flags drive their reminders and overdue tracking.
Delete a program¶
The Delete button in the program editor removes the program. This cannot be undone, so PulseLMS asks you to confirm. Deleting a program does not delete the courses inside it.
