Dept. Standards

What Each Rank May Drive, Wear, and Carry

Most departments keep a reference sheet for this somewhere: which vehicles a Cadet may sign out, which uniform a Sergeant may wear, which of those need a certification first. Dept. Standards puts that sheet inside PulseRoster, next to the ranks and certifications it already depends on, so it stays accurate and members can check it themselves.

It is off by default and turned on per department.

Turning It On

  1. Go to Departments and open the department
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tick Publish Dept. Standards
  4. Click Save

A Dept. Standards tab appears on that department. Departments without it switched on are unaffected, and members of those departments never see the tab.

Plan requirement

Dept. Standards is available on the Standard plan and above.

Catalogs

A catalog is one group of things you authorize. Most departments start with two.

Creating a Catalog

  1. Open Dept. Standards on the department
  2. Click New catalog
  3. Pick a starting point:
Template What it sets up
Vehicles Spawn code, approved liveries, approved extras
Uniforms A full EUP component list, slot by slot, in menu order
Blank No fields; add your own

The template only decides the starting fields. You can rename the catalog, change its fields, or delete it later.

Catalog Settings

Click Catalog settings on any catalog to:

  • Rename it and edit its description
  • Change what it calls each entry (for example Vehicle, so buttons read "Add vehicle" instead of "Add item")
  • Add, rename, retype, or remove specification fields
  • Delete the catalog and everything in it

Removing a field discards its values

Deleting a specification field also deletes whatever was recorded under it on every entry in that catalog. Renaming a field is always safe.

Adding an Entry

  1. Open the catalog and click Add
  2. Enter a Name (for example 20 Charger or Class A Dress)
  3. Set Rank authorization by clicking each rank to cycle it:
Click Meaning
Once Authorized
Twice Needs certification
Three times Not authorized
  1. Choose a Subdivision to group it under, or leave it department-wide
  2. Fill in the specification fields for that catalog
  3. Optionally upload a Reference image, such as a render of the vehicle or ped
  4. Click Add

Certifications

If any rank is marked Needs certification, the entry must name at least one certification. That rank is then authorized only while the member actually holds it, expiry included.

You can name several certifications and choose how they combine:

Rule Meaning
Any one of them Holding any one certification is enough
All of them Every listed certification is required

Because this reads live certification records, revoking a member's certification withdraws the entry from them straight away. Nobody has to edit the sheet.

Who Can See What

Every entry decides who can see it, separately from who may use it.

Visibility Who sees the entry
Everyone (default) All members. Ranks that may not use it show a dash
Authorized only Hidden from ranks with no authorization. Ranks that need a certification still see it
Supervisors and above Hidden from members below supervisor rank
Command staff only Hidden from everyone below command staff

The default is deliberate: a Cadet seeing the vehicle they are working toward is useful. Use the stricter settings for things that should not appear on a junior member's screen at all, such as unmarked units or command uniforms.

Members can tick My access only to collapse the page to their own rank.

Checking What a Rank Sees

Staff can use Preview as rank to re-render the page exactly as an ordinary member at that rank, so you can confirm what is hidden rather than trusting the settings. While authoring, entries you have restricted are flagged.

Note

Preview assumes the member holds no certifications, so certification-gated entries show as "needs certification".

On Mobile

The rank grid is replaced by a list showing your own status for each entry, since a ten-rank grid cannot be read on a phone. Open any entry for the full rank list and specification.
