Notes & discussions¶
Keep private notes as you learn, bookmark lessons to return to, and ask questions in the lesson discussion, on the courses where the author has turned these on.
Both are set per course
Notes and discussion are chosen by whoever built the course, so you may have them on one course and not on another. If you don't see a panel described here, that course doesn't use it. Nothing is wrong and there is no setting of your own to change.
Private notes¶
On a course with notes turned on, every lesson has a My notes panel below its content. Use it to jot down anything you want to remember: key points, questions, reminders.
To add a note:
- Open the My notes panel in the lesson.
- Type into the box.
- Your note saves when you click Save or click away from the box. The panel shows when it was last saved.
Notes are private
Only you can see your notes. They're never shown to instructors, authors, or other learners.
Bookmarks¶
Where notes are turned on, you can also bookmark a lesson to flag it for later, for example a reference you'll come back to.
- Click the bookmark icon at the top of a lesson (or the one on the My notes panel) to bookmark it. Click again to remove the bookmark.
- Bookmarked lessons show a marker in the lesson list on the right, so they're easy to spot as you scan the course.
Lesson discussion (Q&A)¶
On a course with discussion turned on, each lesson has a Discussion panel where you can ask questions and reply to others.
To ask a question:
- Open the Discussion panel at the bottom of the lesson.
- Type your question in the box.
- Click Post.
To reply, click Reply under any question, write your response, and post it. Discussions are threaded one level deep: questions with their replies underneath.
Tip
You can delete your own comments at any time. Instructors and admins can moderate the discussion and remove comments if needed.
If you don't see a Discussion panel, this course doesn't use one; either the author left it off, or your organization's plan doesn't include discussions.
