511 Traffic Platform

The 511 Traffic Platform is the civilian-facing roadway-conditions surface - a public "what is happening on the roads" service for your residents, modeled on real-world state 511 sites. It shares the road-event data your DOT and dispatch teams manage, so what officers post shows up here for the public.

The name comes from your community

The sidebar entry is labeled with your community's configured DOT name, not the words "511 Traffic". Set the DOT name in the Admin Console; this page uses "DOT" generically.

Residents reach it from the Civilian Portal.

Roadway-conditions map

The centerpiece is a live roadway-conditions map. It shows residents the current state of the road network with markers and stretches for:

  • Road closures
  • Hazards
  • Weather conditions
  • Construction / roadwork

The map is community-wide and updates as DOT and dispatch add, confirm, or clear events. Residents use it read-only to plan around trouble spots.

Report an issue

Residents can flag something they have run into with the Report an issue flow. They pick a type, describe it, and drop a location, then submit.

Reports show as Unverified until DOT confirms

A resident-submitted report is marked Unverified on the map. It stays that way until DOT or dispatch confirms it. Confirming promotes the report to a verified roadway event and can spin up a dispatchable pending call so a unit can be sent to check it. Until then, it is a citizen tip, clearly flagged as unverified.

Confirmation happens on the DOT/dispatch side - see Tow & DOT for the recovery/DOT console and Dispatch for the board.

Photos come from in-game only

The only source of report photos is the in-game /report command (below). The web portal report flow does not upload photos, and there is no camera feed feature.

Plan a trip / trip check

The Plan a trip (trip check) tool lets a resident see conditions along a route before they set out. Enter a start postal code and a destination postal code and the platform surfaces the roadway events between them, so drivers know about closures, hazards, weather, and construction on the way.

Roadway alerts

Residents can opt in to roadway alerts to be notified about conditions. Alerts are opt-in, so residents choose to receive them rather than being subscribed automatically.

Message Signs (DMS)

When a community enables the add-on, a Message Signs tab appears, showing the dynamic message signs (DMS) - the overhead/roadside boards - and what they are currently displaying. If the add-on is not enabled for your community, the tab does not appear.

In-game reporting

The in-game /report [type] <desc> command feeds the same roadway-report system. A report filed in-game lands in the same unverified-until-confirmed queue as a portal report, and it is the only way a report carries a photo.

See In-Game Commands for command details.

  • Civilian Portal - where residents reach the traffic platform.
  • Tow & DOT - the DOT-side console where reports are confirmed and roadway events are managed.
  • Dispatch - confirmed reports can become dispatchable pending calls.
